The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) is sponsoring the Commonwealth Mountain and Ultra Distance Championships 2009.

Peter Mearns, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at the NWDA says: “This will be a huge event drawing athletes from around the globe to the Lake District, bringing UK and international visitors into Cumbria and boosting the local economy. The Lake District is the ideal location for this exciting competition to take place and I’m delighted we have helped to bring such a prestigious event here, particularly as it’s the 60th anniversary of the birth of the modern Commonwealth."
