Victoria WilkinsonAthlete “It was a fantastic event and I appreciated being part of the whole event and campaign, I hope the Federations take note and push for it to enter the Commonwealth Games. It was perhaps more rewarding for myself and my ‘team’ of people around me as I had had major surgery at the end of March on my foot, as I had ruptured my Flexi Halusis tendon (big toe tendon) a very rare injury, and it was unknown whether I would be able to run again let alone compete at International level ever again. Just six months later to bring back team Gold and be involved in the whole event was not only rewarding to myself but also to my physio Denise Park who did a sterling job with me, all my friends and family for supporting and encouraging me and after what had been a long summer of major rehabilitation and a test of my patience, reassurance to me that I could still compete internationally and now be able to start dreaming again of what I can do instead of wondering whether I dare to dream.” |
