Update on Financial assistance and final entry form
The inaugural Commonwealth Championships for Ultra Distance and Mountain Running I would like to give you an update on financial assistance and the final entry form. The Local Organising Committee LOC is currently considering providing financial support to competing teams and individuals. One of the major expenses for the LOC in staging the Commonwealth Championship is that of providing accommodation for the athletes . The LOC intends to provide financial assistance for bed and breakfast ONLY for three athletes per event, a maximum of 12 athletes from Wednesday 17th September to Monday 21st September 2009, for each Commonwealth Country outside the United Kingdom . Confirmation of accommodation assistance for Commonwealth countries within the UK will be confirmed week commencing 20th July 2009. The main factors to be taken into account in the amount of grant to be given to a Commonwealth Country for this inaugural event will be the distance the competing country has to travel to the event and the number of athletes entered. The LOC may also consider the performance levels of individuals and teams in previous International competition. If you can give us an indication as to the numbers of athletes and officials who will attend this event from your Federation this will greatly assist us in calculating the amount of financial support we can offer towards accommodation costs. It is our intention to send out final entry forms week commencing 20th of July but please contact us soon as possible before this with estimated numbers likely to attend. Whilst it is the responsibility of competing countries to pay for their travel costs to reach the United Kingdom teams will be welcomed at the agreed point of arrival and given assistance for their onward journey to Keswick. These costs will be met by the LOC once you arrive in Penrith, Cumbria. There may be additional support offered to Commonwealth Countries but at this stage we cannot make any further guarantees. Commonwealth Championship and Festival of Sport The hostel accommodation in Keswick ranges from £21.95p to £24.00 per night bed and breakfast . The LOC have blocked booked 210 beds .
